eHealth

Swiss eHealth, by people who actually built it.

Why eHealth gets its own page

Healthcare software is regulated, audited, and unforgiving. It also sits at the centre of some of the most rewarding digital projects in Switzerland. Luzid has shipped EPD integrations, FHIR-based applications, IHE-aligned interoperability layers and practice-management tools in production. We concentrate that expertise here so the rest of the site does not have to lean on healthcare acronyms in every section.

Standards we work to

  • HL7 FHIR (CH Core, CH EPR, CH EMED, CH VACD, CH eTOC) - resources, profiles, validators, IPS-style summaries.
  • IHE (XDS.b, MHD, PIXm, PDQm, ATNA, CT) - registry / repository transactions and audit trails.
  • eCH - Swiss data-exchange standards (eCH-0007, eCH-0010, eCH-0046 and others).
  • EPDG and EPRA - Swiss electronic patient record law and its revision.
  • EHDS - the EU European Health Data Space, scoping and readiness.
  • DigiSanté - the Swiss federal digital-health programme.
  • Terminologies: SNOMED CT, LOINC, ICD-10, ATC, GTIN.
  • Transport: SAML 2.0, OAuth 2.0, TLS mutual authentication.

EPR (EPD) integration

The electronic patient record (EPR/EPD) is becoming mandatory for an increasing number of healthcare providers in Switzerland. With the upcoming revision of the EPRA, GP practices, pharmacies, Spitex organizations and clinics face the challenge of connecting their systems in time. We guide you through this process - pragmatically, standards-compliant and in your language.

We start with an EPR Readiness Check, where we analyze your existing IT infrastructure and workflows. Based on that, we develop a concrete implementation plan tailored to your practice. From choosing the right EPR reference community to technical integration and go-live, we stand by your side.

  • EPR Readiness Check: analysis of your current IT landscape and identification of action items.
  • Reference Community Advisory: support in selecting the right EPR reference community for your canton, specialty and requirements.
  • Technical Integration: connecting your practice information system (PIS/HIS) with the EPR infrastructure.
  • Workflow Optimization: adapting your daily workflows for effective EPR usage.
  • Go-Live Support: hands-on assistance during rollout and the first weeks of operation.

Interoperability & standards in practice

In Swiss healthcare, various systems need to communicate with each other - from practice information systems to laboratory systems and the EPR infrastructure. Interoperability standards like HL7 FHIR, IHE profiles and eCH specifications make that exchange possible. Whether you need to make an existing system FHIR-capable, prepare for an IHE Projectathon or implement the CH Core profiles, we bring the technical depth and regulatory understanding to make your project a success.

  • FHIR Implementation: HL7 FHIR with Swiss profiles (CH Core, CH EPR, CH EMED, CH VACD).
  • IHE Integration: IHE profiles such as XDS, MHD, PIXm, PDQm.
  • eCH Conformance: compliance with the relevant eCH standards.
  • Projectathon Preparation: technical preparation and on-site support at IHE Projectathons.
  • Terminology Integration: SNOMED CT, LOINC and other code systems wired into the data flow.

Practice digitalization

Digitalizing a GP practice or clinic goes far beyond introducing new software. It is about optimizing workflows, improving patient communication and simplifying administrative tasks. We guide the transformation with a clear focus on practicality and measurable results - because successful digitalization depends on daily acceptance by the people using it.

  • Software Selection: neutral consulting on the evaluation and selection of practice information systems (PIS/HIS).
  • Migration Support: planning and guidance when switching to a new practice system.
  • Process Optimization: analysis and improvement of your administrative and clinical workflows.
  • Online Appointment Booking: digital appointment systems for your patients.
  • Patient Communication: secure digital communication channels.

Why Luzid for eHealth

  • A Swiss team that has lived FHIR / IHE / EPD on real engagements, not in slides.
  • We speak DE / FR / EN with practices, clinics, regulators and reference communities.
  • We deliver code that passes audits and outlives the consultancy phase.
  • Practice-oriented: we understand the daily reality of GP practices and clinics, and the consulting follows.
What is the EPR and who needs it?

The electronic patient record (EPR/EPD) is a digital collection of personal health-relevant documents. Inpatient facilities are already required to offer an EPR. With the revision of the EPRA, this obligation will be extended to additional healthcare providers.

How long does an EPR integration take?

Depending on your starting point and IT infrastructure complexity, we estimate 2 to 8 weeks. The EPR Readiness Check as a first step typically takes 2 working days.

Which EPR reference community do you recommend?

The choice depends on your canton, your specialty and your specific requirements. We provide neutral advice and help you find the right reference community.

What is HL7 FHIR and why does it matter?

HL7 FHIR (Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources) is the international standard for data exchange in healthcare. Switzerland relies on FHIR as the foundation for the EPR and other eHealth applications. FHIR enables different systems to exchange health data in a structured and secure way.

Do we need to replace our existing system entirely?

In most cases, no. We can extend existing systems with FHIR interfaces or develop integration solutions that serve as a bridge between your system and the FHIR ecosystem.

What happens to our existing patient data when switching practice systems?

Data migration is a central part of any system change. We ensure that your existing patient data is transferred securely and completely to the new system.
